Initial Consultation and Inspection
Our initial inspection confirmed the deck’s structural integrity was solid, a crucial prerequisite for a composite conversion. Because the existing framing was in great condition, we were able to address the customer’s frustrations with wood maintenance and accommodate their request for an additional staircase, delivering a beautiful, hassle-free composite upgrade.

Design Agreement and Final Measure
We met with the homeowners once more to decide on the materials to use. After looking through the samples that we brought to their home, the homeowners chose Trex Basics-Saddle for the floor and cladding and Westbury Tuscany Aluminum; fine texture black for the railing. This was an excellent material choice because it provided the customer peace of mind with a 25 year manufacturer’s warranty. Two Day Painting did a final measurement to ensure the correct amount of materials were ordered and soon it was time for the fun to begin!

Removal of Old Materials
To begin the project, Two Day Painting removed and disposed of all old wooden deck boards into the on-site dumpster, ensuring the yard remained clean and debris-free at the end of the day. After a second inspection of the framing confirmed no repairs were needed, the team was ready to move on to the next step.

Installation of Composite Decking
Joist tape was placed on the boards to prevent moisture buildup and wood rot. Next, the composite boards were attached to the original structure using a hidden fastening system. Using this method enhances the structural durability, reduces safety hazards, and allows for a smooth surface. During this process, we also added the second staircase for easier access between the backyard and the new composite deck!

Completion and Final Walk Through
Lastly, Two Day Painting completed a thorough cleaning of the deck and did a final walkthrough with the homeowners to ensure all expectations were met. Now, their time can be spent relaxing and enjoying the Wisconsin summers on their deck, instead of working on the repairs needed from the harsh winters.
