A Pewaukee Backyard is Revitalized by Converting Their Deck to Composite

May 15, 2026

Before: A deck with a solid foundation, but rotted wood decking needed to be replaced and re-stained year after year.

After: A refreshed, newly converted deck featuring durable, low-maintenance composite decking, complemented by a modern railing system.

Two Day Painting recently completed a composite deck conversion project in Pewaukee for a customer that wanted to convert their old existing wood deck to quality composite materials. The customer complained of the tiring maintenance requirements on their old wood, citing the costly and frustrating process that was on repeat every other year. For these reasons, we agreed that the conversion to composite was a smart decision.

After going through options and providing a detailed quote, our team finalized details and commenced work the following week. Day 1 we began demolition. The existing boards were removed and the structure was further examined again by the Two Day team. With an overall solid frame confirmed, we made minor repairs and added reinforcements to the framing for added rigidity and mounting platforms for railing. We then applied joist tape to prevent moisture accumulation and extend the life of the deck substructure. Our team coordinated delivery of materials to begin the composite installation and a dumpster to dispose of the old debris.

Next, the Two Day team precisely measured, cut, and placed the composite boards onto the existing frame. To secure the decking, screws are placed beneath the boards for a smooth, continuous surface. No need to worry about exposed screws or future lifting!

Once the decking installation was complete, a new railing was installed to complement the home’s trim. The customer chose to go with an aluminum railing system, as they wanted a simple yet elegant design with a focus on safety. This railing system was top mounted and quadruple bolted to reinforced blocking. This allowed a very solid and stable railing, which was important to the customer. The finishing touch was to paint the surrounding wood fascia components, completing the project with a clean, cohesive look.

The finished product not only looks fantastic, but the customer now has a maintenance free deck that can truly be enjoyed for years to come, without the old dreaded efforts and costs of maintenance.
